Take Control with CDPAP: Your Care, Your Choice

With CDPAP, you’re in the driver’s seat of your care journey. You select your caregivers and determine how they assist you. This program empowers you with control, comfort, and trust. Make decisions that align with your preferences and cater to your needs. It’s all about your well-being and what matters most to you. In CDPAP, consumers have the freedom to handpick their caregivers and take on the full responsibility of hiring, training, supervising, and, if needed, ending their employment.

What exactly is the Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Services Program (CDPAP)?

CDPAP, or the Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program, is a service offered through Medicaid. It helps people who are chronically ill or physically disabled and need help with everyday tasks or nursing care. This support can include things like personal care assistance, home health aid, or nursing services.

To qualify for the Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Services Program (CDPAP), you must meet certain criteria.

Here are the qualifications for consumers:

  • Need consistent help with daily tasks like bathing, getting dressed, and eating.
  • Must be enrolled in Medicaid.
  • Capable of managing their own care or have a trusted adult to handle program duties for them.

Understanding Medicaid Coverage for CDPAS Services

Medicaid or your Managed Medicaid plan determines your eligibility for services under the CDPAS program and the amount of assistance you can receive. Each insurance company collaborates with a Fiscal Intermediary (FI).

A Fiscal Intermediary is an individual or entity that assists with financial matters related to the CDPAS program. They act as a bridge between the insurance company and the individual receiving services. The Fiscal Intermediary handles payments to caregivers and manages billing for the services provided. Think of them as a trusted intermediary who oversees the financial aspects of the program.

For most insurance companies, Health Force serves as the Fiscal Intermediary, facilitating seamless financial management between insurers and caregivers.
